Lanjus von Wellenburg, Karl (*1856 in San Martino; †22 August 1913 in Pola)

Karl Lanjus von Wellenburg graduated from the naval academy in Fiume and joined the navy as a sea cadet in 1874. In the course of his career as a naval officer, he completed numerous embarkations and took part in the world voyage of the S.M.S. Fasana.

His brother August also embarked on a career as a naval officer.

From 1894 to 1898, Karl Lanjus von Wellenburg taught the subjects of rigging, anchoring and ship manoeuvring at the Naval Academy in Fiume. In 1912, he was appointed president of the Naval Technical Committee. On 21 August 1913, a gun exploded at the Saccorgiana firing range near Pola, seriously injuring Karl Lanjus von Wellenburg. He died of his injuries the following day
